Meet middle linebacker Stan Scott. Stan, originally from Indianola, Mississippi, is a 2011 graduate from Grosse Pointe South High School. Scott was a three-sport athlete in school, where he wrestled, ran track, and played football. After high school, he attended Saginaw Valley State University, as well as joining the Army. Scott is an E4 Specialist in the United States Army, and says his biggest fans are his wife and daughter. One of his proud accomplishments in the Army was shooting 40 out of 40 with an M4.

When asked who his role models are, Scott said, “My Mom and Dad are some of the best athletes I know, so they are my biggest idols.” When he isn’t causing chaos on the gridiron, Scott says he enjoys working out, and loves to fish and shoot.

Scott chose to become a member of the West Michigan Hawks, when he met owner David Lange, and realized that David was starting a football team. The meeting just happened to occur on the very day Stan decided he wanted to continue playing football, so he took it as a sign that he was supposed to be playing for the Hawks.

When asked about what Stan brings to the team, owner/head coach David Lange said, “I can’t say enough about Stan. I am very proud of what he has accomplished with joining the military, as well as what he does on the football field. He is an absolute great guy and is a beast! He is without a doubt one of the hardest hitters we have. He has a passion for the game and it shows every time he steps on that field because he plays every play as if it’s his last play. I’m proud of Stan.”

Scott and the West Michigan Hawks will be in action again this Saturday, June 6, as they travel down to Nappanee, Indiana. They will be taking on the Michiana Thunderhawks. As always, you are encouraged to travel with the team, and show your support for the Hawks! Game time is 4 p.m.
