Meet Wide Receiver/Quarterback Omar Haynes. Haynes is originally from Muskegon, Michigan. He has always been very active in athletics, having played basketball, football, golf, plus running track in high school. Omar also played basketball for 4 years at Kuyper College in Grand Rapids, as well as one year of semi-pro football prior to this year. Omar idolizes both LeBron James and Calvin Johnson, because they are both supreme athletes in their respective sports, and role models to society. In his spare time, Haynes enjoys crafting, art, and working out. When asked why he wanted to be a member of the West Michigan Hawks, he said "I wanted to play for an organization which has leadership, order, and a community who will actually support the team." When asked about Haynes's role on the team, Coach David Lange said "Omar is a guy that brings motivation to the team. His presence brings life to the team. He is a role model for a lot of the players on the team, without a doubt." Omar and the West Michigan Hawks were in action on Saturday, May 9th, when the team fell to the Detroit Diesels, 48-0. The team will be in action again on May 30th in Battle Creek to take on the Coyotes. We hope to see you there!
